Atobius Festival, Parteolla, Sardinia, local traditions, experiential tourism

Six days of cultural encounters in Parteolla, with food workshops, tastings and hands-on experiences. Discover what is planned for Atobius Festival 2026.

Picking olives, making fresh pasta, discovering the work behind a winery and trying traditional dancing. The Atobius Festival 2026 – Encounters of Cultures, scheduled for 12–17 October, invites visitors to explore Parteolla, Sardinia, through experiences that connect people, places and local knowledge.

Participation is at the heart of the festival: listening to people explain their work, watching their techniques and learning through direct experience. Local products, cooking, crafts and cultural traditions offer different ways to get to know the area.

The programme is still being finalised. Here is a preview of the planned experiences, with venues, times and participation details to follow through updates from the organisers.

Among the Olive Trees: Discovering Olive Oil Culture

The relationship between landscape and food will be one of the central themes of Atobius Festival 2026. Activities focusing on olive growing will introduce participants to agricultural work and the olive oil culture of Parteolla.

Planned experiences include olive picking and guided walks among the trees, with opportunities to learn about the rural landscape, biodiversity and traditional techniques.

The journey will continue with sessions dedicated to tasting extra virgin olive oil. Guided tastings will help participants recognise aromas and characteristics, connecting what they taste with the work that goes into the finished product.

Winery Experiences and Guided Tastings

Wine will feature in the programme through winery experiences, conversations and tastings. These activities will explore the relationship between vineyards, place and production, with insights from the people involved in the different stages of winemaking.

Participants will discover grape varieties and wine characteristics, paying attention to the aromas and sensations that emerge in the glass.

Those attending a tasting for the first time will also find opportunities to observe, ask questions and develop their ability to recognise differences. Meeting producers will help explain the decisions and knowledge behind their work.

Fresh Pasta, Sweet Specialities and Traditional Recipes

Cooking workshops will focus on the ingredients, techniques and recipes of Sardinian tradition. Fresh pasta, local sweet specialities and regional dishes will provide opportunities for hands-on learning.

Following a preparation reveals details that can be difficult to convey through a written recipe: the texture of dough, the movement of hands and the care required at a particular stage.

During the festival, these activities will also create space for conversation and exchange. Cooking together gives participants the chance to ask questions, compare familiar methods and discover how knowledge is preserved and passed on.

From Milk to Cheese, from Berries to Myrtle Liqueur

The programme includes workshops exploring how milk is transformed into cheese. Demonstrations and practical participation will introduce visitors to cheesemaking and help explain the stages that shape the final product.

Another experience will focus on the craft of making mirto, Sardinian myrtle liqueur, with insights into selecting the berries, maceration and the balance of aromas.

These activities encourage participants to consider the processes, raw ingredients and time involved. Understanding these aspects enriches the tasting experience and builds an appreciation of the producers’ skills.

Workshops, Cultural Heritage and Traditional Dance

The exploration of Parteolla will continue through encounters with local businesses, visits to craft workshops and opportunities to discover community life.

Food and wine experiences will be complemented by cultural visits and activities exploring historical and archaeological heritage. Together, they will connect local production with the places, stories and people that contribute to the area’s identity.

Traditional dance will also form part of the programme, with an introductory session offering participants a chance to try it for themselves. Learning a step alongside others will provide another opportunity to take part and meet people.

A Closing Celebration

A shared event involving producers, craftspeople and local cultural organisations is planned to bring the festival to a close.

It will offer an opportunity to revisit some of the themes explored throughout the week and celebrate the experiences shared. The programme and practical details for the closing event will be announced through the official channels.
