In February 2026, the Atobius Festival takes a new and meaningful step in its path of growth and international openness.
Alessandro Picciau, president of the Atobius association, and vice president Maura Mattana, will embark on an important promotional trip to the United Kingdom with the aim of introducing Sardinia and the festival to an ever wider, international audience.
This is an initiative that goes beyond simple promotion: it is a true journey of dialogue and cultural exchange, through which Atobius tells its story and connects with new, dynamic, stimulus-rich contexts. A chance to take beyond the island not only an event, but a vision made of identity, traditions and innovation.
The tour will cross some of England’s most lively and multicultural cities, each with its own soul and a strong cultural fabric. It will start from London, the beating heart of the country and an international crossroads par excellence, the ideal place to present the festival to a global audience.
The journey will then continue to Leicester and Loughborough, important university centres marked by young communities, curious and open to discovering new cultural realities. Here Atobius will find fertile ground to spark interest and create connections.
Among the stops are also Manchester, a symbol of creativity and innovation, and Newcastle, a city with a lively and constantly evolving cultural scene. The tour will finally end in Liverpool, a vibrant place deeply tied to art, music and cultural cross-pollination.
During this tour, Alessandro and Maura will have the task of telling the story, values and identity of the Atobius Festival, bringing the British public an authentic image of Sardinia. Not only a territory, but a heritage made of culture, traditions, food and wine, and unique landscapes.
It will also be a valuable opportunity to build new relationships, launch collaborations and expand the festival’s international network, strengthening its role as a bridge between cultures and different communities.
A key contribution to the organisation of the conferences was provided by the Dante Alighieri Society of Loughborough and its president Gianluca Fanti, for years a friend and partner of Atobius.
Collaboration with organisations committed to spreading Italian culture abroad represents added value and an important sign of the direction taken by the festival.
This trip marks an important moment for Atobius: a firm step towards internationalisation, yet always with its gaze turned to its roots. Because it is precisely from identity that the ability to dialogue with the world is born.
