ceramics, olive picking, trekking, guided tours and tastings

Press release of 8 October 2025

Dolianova is therefore preparing to welcome, for this fifth edition of the Atobius Festival, all those visitors who wish to experience Sardinian tradition through direct experiences, trying their hand at the many workshops that the rich programme offers over the 7 days, organized by the Atobius Association, with the contribution of the Regional Department of Tourism of Sardinia, the Municipality of Dolianova and the Dante Alighieri School of Loughborough (Leicester).

The spirit that drives the event is sharing: “Atobius” in Sardinian means “meeting”; the idea is that of a widespread festival, involving several associations and productive activities in the area. An opportunity, for visitors, to get to know wine and oil up close, products of a dedicated area that offers top-quality excellence, but also cheeses and handicrafts whose origins are handed down from generation to generation.

It will be possible to visit two Parteolla Wineries, with the guidance of expert sommeliers and take part in tastings to learn to recognize the characteristics of the wines, all the secrets of their production and the food pairings they best go with. Atobius offers  the chance to enjoy the olive-harvesting experience, with a charming walk among centuries-old olive trees in the countryside of Dolianova, visit two oil mills and taste the oil to grasp all its qualities linked to the peculiarities of the place. These are two very important mills of Parteolla (from Latin Pars Olea): the first operating since 1962, built at the will of 31 citizens and olive growers of Dolianova with the aim of improving the quality, productivity and marketability of a product already excellent by nature; the second even older, with over 400 years of history.

Those who wish, by booking, will be able to test their creativity and manual skills in workshops led by local artisans, together with whom they can try weaving, yarn painting, and other activities of Sardinian tradition, such as cooking, making stools or weaving baskets. The area also has many beauties to show from a historical and architectural point of view, and for this reason guided tours have been organized every day throughout the Festival.

All activities can be booked on the website https://faiculture.it/

Another aspect that deeply characterizes Sardinian culture is the strong bond with music and folk dance; for this reason during the festival, Sardinian dance lessons will be held by the Dolianova folk group.

It starts, therefore, on Saturday 11 October, at the B&B Ollu e Stentu, from 6:00 pm with the opening evening with hands-on activities, artisans’ workshops, tastings of the area’s typical food-and-wine excellences. But already in the morning, starting at 11, there will be guided tours of the Cathedral of San Pantaleo, in conjunction with the “Days of Romanesque in Sardinia” and, in the Council Chamber of the Municipality of Dolianova, free entry to the exhibition “Amentos_The paths of traditions” dedicated to traditional clothing from the Cagliari area and international, in collaboration with the Cultural Association FITP Committee-Province of Cagliari and the folk group “City of Dolianova”.
